Emerge Smarter: Raising Capital To Support a Profitable Business Model
June 23, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Join Emerge mentor David Swintosky, Managing Director at Dunning Capital, LLC, as he hosts Michael Naimy during this education session on raising capital to support your company’s profitable business model.
Michael is the former CEO of Tate’s Bake Shop, a gourmet baking company with an all-natural cookie line positioned in high-end, independent food stores and supermarkets throughout the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean. He’ll share the story of Tate’s growth process, and the critical financial strategy decisions growing companies need to make during their lifecycle. Learn from Tate’s successful journey from startup to category leader, how they navigated the industry, kept it simple, took a step-by-step approach, took advantage of opportunities when they presented themselves, and ultimately built a profitable brand that sold to Mondelez.
David will share the importance of balancing business strategy with financial strategy, and how to do so. He will review the different approaches and options for raising capital, and the role and timing for each. He’ll detail how brands can align raising capital with their growth goals and business needs.
From start-up to publicly traded companies, David has supported a wide variety of businesses over his 28 year career at PwC, EY, EY Corporate Finance and Dunning Capital, LLC. David formed Dunning in 2000 out of his love for working with entrepreneurs. His dynamic practice is uniquely designed to align interests with entrepreneurs and engage with them as strategic advisor, board member and/or investment banker from start up to exit.
